Summary

This chapter has shown that despite the assertion of the official Church that the members of the CH are united and in communion with one another under the leadership of the pope, the opportunity structure, however, of the social interaction and spiritual bonding of diocesan clerics in the various levels of the CH remains loose and lack of common activities and social interactions which can foster stronger social ties among the clergy which can inhibit CSA. The analysis has revealed that there are no strong intermediary networks participated by lay Catholics to connect and interconnect the various levels of the clerical social networks of the CH. The spiritual formation and social networks of clerics also remain problematic as there is no uniform and stable structure for the holistic spiritual formation and social bonding for all pastors in the RCC. All these factors point to a loosely knit communal structure of the CH that is prone to social disorganization and CSA.
